Events: courses, repeating classes, online events and a week schedule

Events: courses, repeating classes, online events and a week schedule | Tavilio blog

Events started with one evening at a time. Studios, schools and course organisers run more than that, so events can now span several dates, repeat on a schedule and happen away from the venue, and the website shows them in the layout that suits how much is on.

Under More dates in the event editor, add every day a course meets. One signup holds a place on all of them.

The event page lists the whole schedule, and the calendar marks every day.
Signup emails list the dates.
The course stays among upcoming events until its last date.
Signups, reminders and the signup cutoff follow the first date.

Repeating classes

Set Repeats to every week, every 2 weeks or every month, and pick a Last date. The editor shows how many dates that makes.

Each date becomes its own event, with its own page, places and signups, so guests sign up for the dates they come to.
Every page links the series' other upcoming dates.
Editing a date asks whether to change Only this date or This and all later dates.
Moving the last date adds or removes dates. A date that already has signups is kept, so you can cancel it yourself.

A repeating class and a course do not combine: an event is one or the other.

Online, or somewhere else

Under Where, an event takes place at the venue, online (optionally naming the platform, such as Zoom) or somewhere else, with its own address. The event page, the calendar, the signup emails and what search engines see all follow it. If an event should not show a price, choose Don't show a price.

Show them the way they fit

The events section on your website now has five layouts:

Month and list: the calendar and the list beside it. It now opens on the month of your soonest event.
Week schedule: hours down the side and a column per day, with overlapping classes side by side. A Week / Day switch opens one busy day across the full width. On a phone it shows one day at a time.
Cards: a card per event with its photo, for venues that run a few things.
List: every event in date order under its month, with the chosen one's details beside the list.
Automatic, the default for new sections, picks for you.

Upcoming	Automatic shows
Up to 3 events	Cards
Up to 8 events	List
More, with 6 or more in the next two weeks	Week schedule
More, spread out	Month and list

Sections you already set up keep their layout.

In the admin

With a team, the events list is grouped by who leads each event; a switch turns the grouping off. Long lists show 25 events at a time, with buttons to page through them.
